Special thanks to the Radisson Downtown for featuring my work in their most recent mailer, and to my wonderful bride Erin (see blog post HERE from my old blog) for looking radiant for her May wedding.

Amazing staff and beautiful venue.  If you are interested in booking your reception, contact Sarah Pikul at the Radisson.

    Jackie and Vineet

Jackie and I hit it off right away.  When we sat down at the coffee shop it was like running into an old friend.  I could not wait to hear all the wedding details and shoot her and Vineet’s May wedding.  While planning from Connecticut, Jackie and her mother have put many of the pieces of the wedding day already in place.  I almost jumped for joy I was so excited when she told me the venue and specifics.   I love surprises, so stay tuned for more details and photos of this beautiful, charming couple!

So this week I am running low on energy.  As you might have noticed the blog is getting posted in the evening rather than this morning.  Thankfully there is a lot of great stuff to come!  I can’t wait to post more, but for this evening, here is my contest entry!

UPDATE:  Wow, I was chosen as one of the winners.  See all the other jumpin winners HERE

This week’s theme: Jump for joy!  I love this photo taken from a May wedding last year!  To see others jumping joyously, click HERE and to check out the guest judge this week, Kelly Moore, click HERE.  (Her stuff is ultra cool!)

        “Interest in photography”

It was a prayer that I never even prayed, but the Lord knew.  He knew life with 3 kids had been extremely fast and knew the work load would be more than I could  have imagined for this season of life.   He knew my hatred for entering receipts for tax purposes and organizing them, and knew how much I enjoy teaching and talking the language of photography.

And then it came.  The e-mail titled: “Interest in Photography.”

I was thrilled that she would even think of me, and actually honored and humbled that she would even think of me.  She told me she had been following my fan page on facebook and was extremely interested in interning with me for a semester to get her feet wet in the world pf photography.  So we exchanged a few e-mails, met and there was a instant connection.

I have been EXTREMLY blessed this season.

Lauren is a senior at Bethel college and is pursuing a degree in Media communications and a minor in studio art.  We met briefly in 2007 when I was shooting her brother and sister-in-law’s wedding.  I have loved having her come and have been very impressed with her character and work ethic.  She has joyfully taken on challenges, and been a student that is ready to learn, even tax preparations!

I love the idea of internships and apprenticeships.  I was an intern for a Time/ Life documentary photographer even before I started shooting weddings, and I learned so much more than college or labs could teach me.  It is something I would strongly recommend for any budding photographer who really wants to learn what the field is all about.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU Lauren for all the work that you have done and continue to do.  You are truly a gift from God.

PS.  Check out her Blog HERE, makes me so proud!

Our “mini” shoot in my front yard!  (Just so I could blog about her!)

Break time at the last wedding we shot together.Lauren with her family in 2007, when we first met.

Lauren is great!!! When Mark and I worked with the youth group at Crystal Free Church she was in our “small group”. It’s so crazy when you know 2 different people from completely different places and then they end up meeting and working together! 🙂
