Rush Creek Golf Club Wedding | Maple Grove, MN

Courtney and Drew’s August wedding day was one of those Minnesota summer days that you just can’t ask for anything better. Warm, sunny, beautiful light and two people who were so incredibly happy to finally be married!

These two met on Hinge and quickly discovered they had a lot in common. They love the simple things in life; spending time together, being with their families, working hard in their careers, and loving on their dog and cat who are very much a part of their family. Their Catholic faith is also a huge part of who they are, which made their wedding day at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Wayzata especially meaningful.

The two were vacationing in Charleston, South Carolina, when Drew pulled off the ultimate surprise. He had secretly custom designed Courtney’s engagement ring based on a ring she had found on social media. While they were walking through downtown Charleston near the Pineapple Fountain, Drew asked a group of people to take their picture. Courtney thought they were just stopping for a photo when Drew popped the question!

She had absolutely no idea it was coming. He totally got her!

Their wedding day started at Courtney’s parents’ home on Lake Minnetonka in Wayzata, where the girls got ready before everyone headed to Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove for their first look.

Rush Creek is such a beautiful place for a wedding, and I have had the opportunity to photograph quite a few weddings there over the years. The golf course gives us so many great options for portraits, and I especially love what happens when that evening golden light starts to roll in.

Courtney and Drew’s wedding party and families joined them at Rush Creek for photos before we headed to the church. The girls looked beautiful in their soft pewter dresses with pastel pops of color in their flowers, while the guys wore navy suits with light blue ties. And, of course, we had to get some photos of their sweet golden retriever, Penny. Because if your dog is family, they definitely need to be part of the wedding day!

From Rush Creek we headed to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Wayzata for their ceremony. The historic white church was such a beautiful backdrop for their Catholic wedding, and after the ceremony we took some time for photos at the altar and around the church. Then it was back on the party bus with the wedding party!

I always love a good party bus moment because this is usually when everyone starts to relax a little bit. The ceremony is over, the couple is married, and now it’s time to celebrate! Once we arrived back at Rush Creek, we had more time for family and couple portraits before the reception got underway. And this is where the beautiful Minnesota summer day really showed off.

The greens at Rush Creek were gorgeous, and when golden hour arrived, we headed out onto the course for some of my favorite photos of the day. You know I am always going to be a little obsessed with golden hour, and this night did not disappoint!

There is just something about stepping away from the reception for a few minutes with your new husband or wife, taking a breath and soaking it all in. Those quiet moments in the middle of a wedding day are some of my favorites to photograph.

The reception at Rush Creek was filled with family, friends, great food, dancing and lots of celebrating. Rush Creek Golf Club is such a great Maple Grove wedding venue for couples who want beautiful outdoor spaces for photos but also want everything they need for a fun reception all in one place.

And Courtney and Drew certainly knew how to celebrate!

I loved getting to spend this day with these two and their families. From their Catholic ceremony in Wayzata to their portraits at Rush Creek, their sweet pup Penny, the party bus, and that gorgeous golden hour light, it was a beautiful start to their marriage.

Courtney and Drew, thank you for trusting me to document such an important day in your lives. It was such a joy getting to know you both and being there as you started this next chapter together!

Congratulations, you two!

If you’re planning a Rush Creek Golf Club wedding, a Catholic wedding at Holy Name of Jesus, or a wedding anywhere in Maple Grove, Wayzata, Lake Minnetonka or the Twin Cities, I would love to hear from you! I’ve been photographing Minnesota weddings for more than 20 years, and I truly love getting to know my couples and their families.

The Refuge Golf Club Wedding:: Oak Grove, MN

Josh and Marina’s late May wedding was a beautiful celebration of family, faith, and timeless style. Set on a perfect Memorial Day weekend with 75-degree sunshine and a brief lucky rain shower, their day was filled with thoughtful details and meaningful moments from beginning to end.

A Love Rooted in Family & Faith

Marina grew up in a large, close-knit family, and it was important to her that her wedding day reflect her deep love for tradition and togetherness. Josh and Marina share a strong foundation built on faith, and their ceremony at First Baptist Church of St. Francis was a beautiful representation of that shared devotion.

Getting Ready at Marina’s Childhood Home

The morning began at Marina’s childhood home, surrounded by her sisters and parents. The energy in the house was filled with laughter, anticipation, and love. With a large family, these quiet moments before the big day were especially meaningful to Marina.

Amber Ripka styled the bride’s hair to perfection, giving her the classic, elegant look she had envisioned. Marina chose to do her own makeup—a testament to her natural beauty and graceful style. When it came time to step into her custom-made wedding gown, it was her mother who helped her into the dress—an emotional moment that Marina will always cherish.

Her gown, handcrafted by Nancy Lindquist, was the perfect reflection of Marina’s classic style. To complement the look, she wore baby blue heels imported from Sézane in France, and blue accents were woven throughout the day—from the soft hues in her Petals to Pines Floral bouquet by Georgia Edgington, to the touches in the stationery, designed through Vistaprint.

Marina’s look was rich with heirloom details. Her earrings, passed down from her maternal grandmother, had been worn by every bride on that side of the family. Her pearl necklace belonged to her paternal grandmother and had been worn by each of her sisters on their wedding days. Her bouquet even held tiny cameos as a tribute to her grandparents—a heartfelt nod to generations of love.

Josh & the Groomsmen at The Refuge

While the women got ready, Josh and his groomsmen enjoyed a relaxed morning at The Refuge Golf Club, where they shared laughs and prepared for the big day. The atmosphere was lighthearted and full of anticipation.

A First Look Beneath the Trees

Josh and Marina shared their first look under a peaceful grove of trees, a quiet and emotional moment that allowed them to take in the significance of the day. This was followed by wedding party photos and family portraits—complete with seven grandchildren under the age of four, bringing an extra dose of joy and energy to the day.

Wedding Party & Family Photos: Full of Laughter and Love

After their sweet first look, Josh and Marina were joined by their wedding party and families for photos. The energy was joyful and relaxed, with siblings joking around, lifelong friends cheering them on, and seven grandbabies under the age of four stealing the show. It was beautifully chaotic in the best way—just the kind of moments that reflect what matters most. With every photo, you could feel how deeply loved Josh and Marina are, and how much support surrounds them as they begin their life together.

A Meaningful Ceremony at First Baptist Church of St. Francis

Their ceremony took place inside their home church, First Baptist Church of St. Francis. The couple lit a unity candle and were prayed over by their parents—an emotional and powerful moment that honored the spiritual foundation of their relationship.

A Riverside Escape at Rum River North County Park

Following the ceremony, Josh and Marina took a private moment together at Rum River North County Park, a serene stretch of parkland along the river. It was a beautiful chance to soak in their first quiet moments as husband and wife.

Reception at The Refuge Golf Club

The celebration continued at The Refuge Golf Club, where guests enjoyed dinner catered by the venue and a night of dancing. The reception space featured romantic floral arrangements by Petals to Pines Floral, and music was provided by Jessica Shaw of Bellagala, who kept the dance floor lively throughout the night. Their cake, beautifully done by Hy-Vee of Brooklyn Park, was both delicious and picture-perfect.

      Golden Hour: Absolutely Delicious

As the sun dipped low and cast its golden light over the golf course, we snuck out for a few final portraits. Golden hour was absolutely delicious—warm, glowy, and romantic in all the right ways. Josh and Marina embraced, laughed, and soaked up the last light of their wedding day with ease. It was the perfect pause before the sparkler exit, and a magical way to close out a day so full of heart. This quiet, glimmering time together gave them space to just be present—and those photos turned out to be some of the dreamiest of the whole day.

At the end of the night Marina changed into a simple white dress for the grand finale—a sparkler send-off that closed the evening with joy, light, and celebration.

      Congratulations, Josh & Marina

Josh and Marina’s wedding day was a true honor to capture—from the legacy-filled heirlooms to the joyful energy of their big family and the sacred vows they shared. I’m wishing them all the happiness in the world as they begin their life together—and a beautiful honeymoon in Bayfield to kick it all off!

On a perfect June day, under the warm Minnesota sun, Emmy and Zack celebrated their love at the stunning Minnesota Valley Country Club. Their wedding was a testament to a love that began in high school, endured a long-distance move, and grew stronger through college years, culminating in a decade-long journey that led them to this magical day.

Emmy and Zack’s love story began in middle school when they first met. It wasn’t until high school, however, that their paths truly intertwined. Placed in the same homeroom due to their last names, they quickly became friends and stayed together even when Emmy moved to Houston, TX. Their bond only grew stronger as they both attended the University of Minnesota, navigating college life side by side. Their love story has spanned over ten years, beginning when they were just 17.

Zack’s proposal to Emmy was nothing short of cinematic. During a vacation to Utah’s Zion National Park, Zack had planned to propose the morning after they arrived. However, an unexpected early arrival by Emmy’s sister, Ally, prompted a change of plans. Convincing Emmy to embark on one last hike for the day, they made their way to Canyon Overlook just as the sun was setting. Despite Emmy’s initial hesitation about the fading daylight, they reached the top in time. There, Zack proposed, with Ally capturing the unforgettable moments on camera from behind a tree.

Their June wedding day started with Emmy and her bridal party getting ready at the Minneapolis Hilton. Jess Nelson from Blonde Studios and Ashley Parshley worked their magic on hair, while Sierra England and Mati Oeltjenbruns handled the makeup, ensuring Emmy and her bridesmaids looked stunning.

Emmy’s wedding dress, a beautiful satan ivory gown by Pronovias, was purchased from Budget Bridal Outlet and when she got in it, she looked incredible! The bridesmaids wore a variety of pale blue dresses from various designers, complementing Emmy’s gown perfectly. Zack and his groomsmen were equally as dapper, dressed in dark gray suits from Milbern Clothing Co.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Minnesota Valley Country Club a venue that provided the perfect backdrop with its lush greenery and elegant interiors. The stunning floral arrangements by Ashley Rugel from Style Society added a pops of color, enhancing the already picturesque setting.

Guests enjoyed a delectable meal catered by the Minnesota Valley Country Club, with sweets from Costco Wholesale adding a sweet touch to the celebration. Music was provided by DJ Mike Hongslo, who kept the dance floor lively all night. The couple’s rings were crafted by The Jeweler Ryan , symbolizing their enduring commitment to one another. Emmy and Zack’s personal touch was evident in their DIY stationary, adding a unique and heartfelt element to their wedding. This personal involvement reflected their journey together and the deep connection they share. As the night headed to a close, the couple exited with a grand bubble exit making for more memorable photos!

As the sun set on their wedding day, Emmy and Zack looked forward to a future filled with love and shared adventures. Their wedding at Minnesota Valley Country Club was a beautiful beginning to their next chapter, surrounded by the people they love and the memories they’ve created over the years.
