A perfect winter day provided us with snow and beautiful backdrop of evergreens! Dominic and Aimee were visiting from Florida to see family in Minnesota and I was able to capture their engagement session on Aimee’s parent’s property in St. Cloud.
We walked around the property filled with fresh snow and were able to capture some incredible photos. What a wonderful day it was!
Happy Friday to you! As we enter a weekend of beautiful weather in Minnesota and start thinking about spring, I wanted to share some secrets to all of you in how to make your engagement session not only in getting beautiful photos, but also in making it an experience that you will both love!
1) Make it unique to you! Do you love wine tasting? Working out together, cooking, walking your dog or exploring some of Minnesota’s lakes together? Choose a place that you love, and go there to show off your unique side!
2) Bring props! Do you love your pooch? Bring him or her along! Wanting to add some signage? Bring that too! Your golf clubs or ice skating?! Yes please!! Whatever you can to show off your flair!
3) While it is great to compliment your future spouse, by no means do the two of you have to wear matching outfits! If your partner is more comfortable in solid colors, try choosing something with a little texture!
4) Patterns are a great way to add contrast to your images. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confidant. Be creative and let your personality shine through!
5) Accessories photograph really well and while capturing the bling on your finger, add a little more by adding scarves, necklaces, bangles, shoes, and earrings!
Hope that helps in your planning! I would love to chat more if you are interested in scheduling an engagement session. Click on the contact tab above to chat more! I look forward to hearing from you and happy planning!
Jenny, a high school history teacher and lover of travel and Washington DC, knew that the trip she and Kyle were taking last spring was going to be amazing. She had planned to take Kyle to all her favorite places along the National Mall.
Along the way, the two stopped at a bench amongst all the cherry blossoms and a beautiful festival going on. Kyle turned to Jenny, rather seriously, and started talking about their future together. Jenny was completely stunned when amidst sentences, Kyle asked her to be his wife. She of course said yes, and the two celebrated amongst the blossoms and the rest of their trip.
We decided to do their engagement session in early January so they could have a mix of winter and summer photos. Jenny and Kyle chose two of their favorite destinations, Nicolette Island Pavillion and the Minneapolis Rose Gardens on Lake Harriet where we even took to the ice for some photos!
Jenny and Kyle are planning to wed at the beautiful and historic Minneapolis Club in late July. I simply can not wait to celebrate with them!
Rachel and Robert have been high school sweethearts, so it was no surprise to anyone that they would be getting married. It was only a matter of time! Mid fall Robert decided to take Rachel up to one of their favorite places in Minnesota, the North Shore. He sneakily had his good friend and sisters in on the plan and they drove up ahead of him and Rachel and headed to the scoped out area they had talked about.
It was a cold and rainy day and Robert suggested taking a walk. Rachel wasn’t super interested in it but she was happy to be with Robert and the two set out.
As they walked, Robert kept his calm and conversation until they stopped at a beautiful location mid walk. He then got down on one knee and asked Rachel to be his wife. His friends, hidden in the bushes, snapped photos of Rachel saying yes, and then they all popped out to congratulate them!
Fall in Minnesota is absolutely stunning and because it really only lasts about 6 weeks in Minnesota, carving out time for sessions is hard to come by! Lizzy and Ryan were just about up for anything. After meeting to chat about their wedding day and chatting about their hectic schedules, we all settled on a sunrise session at the beautiful Bunker Hills Park.
They met me just as the sun was rising and walking through the fields of color was glorious.
We laughed a lot and had a great time getting to know each other even better. I am looking forward to photographing them again in September of 2020!
Katie Nick’s June wedding at Seven Vines Vineyard was the perfect blend of timeless elegance and joyful celebration. From the classic black-and-white wedding party attire to the dreamy golden hour portraits among the vines, every detail felt effortlessly sophisticated.
Surrounded by their favorite people and endless love, these two kicked off married life in the most beautiful way.
Baby Mary has arrived and is already so deeply loved by Nicole and Aaron.
I’ve had the true honor of photographing this family since their oldest was born over 16 years ago, and watching their story grow through each new season has been something really special. From newborn snuggles to busy, full family life being invited back again and again is something I never take for granted.
This family is deeply rooted in the world of forage, county fairs, and raising and showing lambs and sheep, so it only felt fitting to include a little lamb hat for baby Mary’s first photos. A small nod to a big part of their life and traditions.
Rob and Sarah’s wedding day was a beautiful blend of faith, family, and thoughtful design. Inspired by Monet’s garden paintings, their celebration was filled with soft spring colors, meaningful heirlooms, and intentional details at every turn.
After a joyful ceremony at Eagle Brook Church, surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated the night away at Silverwood Park with beautiful florals, heartfelt speeches, lakeside portraits, and dancing.
One of my favorite details? Sarah changed into her mother’s wedding dress for the reception, while flowers made from that same gown were sewn into her veil.
Welcome, to the world sweet Julia! It was such a blessing to see Travis, Marisa, and Jalen again! What joy Julia has brought to this family! Congratulations!!
