When you have a preschooler and a toddler, you sorta just have to roll with the punches because you never know what the day is going to hold. Thankfully the Dziboa family and I had a pretty fun afternoon together and took advantage of the Coon Rapids Dam area. The view was spectacular and the light was oh so perfect. Add that with a fun loving couple and a pair of kids that loved to run, you’ve got a perfect match for photos. 
I love the aspect of family. I love it with every fiber of my being. I love the fact that we were MADE to be in a family, among people that we love and who love us. Family are the people that we can see way down deep into the soul, and scary enough, they see right into ours. And when we open ourselves up to them, a multitude of emotions erupt . I love watching couples and families interact with each other. I love the way that their love for one another is so intimate, so evident, and so real.
I have been blessed to have a job that allows me to do exactly that: to watch, through the eyes of the camera.

It is always a joy and an honor to be a part of a family ‘s milestone moments and to be able to capture those events for them. Beautiful Ashlyn was baptized in the same church as her mother Shannon was baptized in, making it a memorable moment for all involved. The entire family showed their love for the family and for Ashlyn. I was able to be there for the actual baptism as well as capture a few family photos after the ceremony.
And Ashlyn had it. The end of an eventful day. Isn’t she beautiful?

The baptism shoot was amazing – great lighting – great fall colors. Oh, and the adorable baby doesn’t hurt! 🙂
Ruth and I met through a mom’s group a few years ago. She had an older child and I was just beginning my walk in parenting. Of course at that time with a newborn, I was open to any help I could receive. She was so helpful and continues to be helpful as we swap stories about child rearing. Right now, her little girl and my Lydia, are in a music class together; the only girls. It is so funny when we come to get them, they are giggling and enjoying each other.
We had a perfect fall day to photograph their family in. The Maple trees are just beginning to change color leaving a few on the ground to play around in. We strolled around Elm Creek Park together finding lots of leaves to throw, sand to dig in and trees to climb in! Here are just a few from our time together. 
Elena is not only my good friend, but my wonderful wedding assistant. We have been working together for over 2 years, into our 3rd wedding season. She is an amazing photographer and wonderful mother. We often chat about how different we would do our weddings after seeing the multitudes of different weddings we shoot. I think one day we’ll get gutsy enough to put on our dresses again and rope our husbands into a round 2 wedding shoot. Until then, we’ll just have to get our family in their elements! Here are the makings of a wonderful night and family!

Baby Mary has arrived and is already so deeply loved by Nicole and Aaron.
I’ve had the true honor of photographing this family since their oldest was born over 16 years ago, and watching their story grow through each new season has been something really special. From newborn snuggles to busy, full family life being invited back again and again is something I never take for granted.
This family is deeply rooted in the world of forage, county fairs, and raising and showing lambs and sheep, so it only felt fitting to include a little lamb hat for baby Mary’s first photos. A small nod to a big part of their life and traditions.

Spring soirée perfection.
Rob and Sarah’s wedding day was a beautiful blend of faith, family, and thoughtful design. Inspired by Monet’s garden paintings, their celebration was filled with soft spring colors, meaningful heirlooms, and intentional details at every turn.
After a joyful ceremony at Eagle Brook Church, surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated the night away at Silverwood Park with beautiful florals, heartfelt speeches, lakeside portraits, and dancing.
One of my favorite details? Sarah changed into her mother’s wedding dress for the reception, while flowers made from that same gown were sewn into her veil.
