Sienna:: St. Michael, MN Lifestyle Newborn Photography

There is something incredibly special about getting to watch a family grow. One of my favorite parts of being a St. Michael newborn photographer is being invited back into the lives of families as they celebrate new milestones together.

When Sara and her family welcomed their first baby, Kai, I had the honor of photographing his newborn session. Fast forward a couple of years, and I was thrilled to return to their home to meet their beautiful baby girl, Sienna. Being able to document both of their babies and see Kai step into his new role as big brother was such a meaningful full-circle moment.

Sienna’s Beautiful African-Inspired Nursery

One of my favorite parts of Sienna’s session was spending time in her nursery.

Sara created the sweetest space, incorporating beautiful African-inspired décor with soft pink accents and adorable African animals throughout the room. Every little detail reflected the love and thought that went into preparing for Sienna’s arrival, and it made the perfect backdrop for documenting these first precious days.

I always encourage families to include the nursery during their session because it captures a space that changes so quickly as children grow.

Making Big Brother Feel Included

If you’ve ever wondered how toddler siblings do during a newborn session, the answer is simple—we follow their lead.

Kai was two years old and full of curiosity. Instead of expecting him to sit perfectly still, we played, laughed, explored, and gave him plenty of time to warm up. Those playful moments often become the most genuine photographs.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed. We take breaks when needed, follow your children’s pace, and capture the real interactions that make your family unique. Some of my favorite images from Sienna’s session came from simply watching Kai love on his new baby sister in his own sweet way.

Why Choose an In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session in St. Michael?

One of the biggest reasons families love lifestyle newborn photography is because there is no need to pack up your brand-new baby and head to a studio. Instead, I come directly to your home, creating a relaxed and comfortable experience for everyone.

Those first few weeks with a newborn are already a whirlwind. Having your session at home means you can stay in your cozy environment, feed your baby whenever needed, and never feel rushed. The result is authentic images that tell the story of this season of life.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are also about so much more than just the baby. They’re about your family.

Your session can include:

  • Parents
  • Brothers and sisters
  • Grandparents
  • Family pets
  • Special spaces like the nursery you’ve spent months preparing

These little details help tell your family’s unique story and create photographs that become even more meaningful as the years go by.

Capturing Your Family’s Story

Your home holds memories that no studio can recreate. It’s where you rocked your baby to sleep for the first time, where siblings meet their newest family member, and where your family’s story continues to unfold.

Years from now, you’ll remember not only how tiny your baby was, but also the nursery you lovingly decorated, the way your toddler giggled around their new sibling, and the home where it all began.

It was such a gift to photograph both Kai and now Sienna for the Fairey family. Watching families grow is one of the greatest joys of my job, and I feel incredibly honored each time I’m invited back through their front door.

If you’re expecting a baby and looking for a lifestyle newborn photographer in St. Michael, MN, I’d love to help you preserve this beautiful season. In-home newborn sessions are relaxed, natural, and centered around the people and places that matter most—your family, your home, and the memories you’re creating together.

Lifestyle Newborn Photography in St. Michael, Otsego & Monticello :: Welcoming Baby with the Mettling Family

One of the greatest gifts of being a photographer is getting to walk alongside families through so many different seasons of life. I’ve known the Mettling family for many years, so being invited into their home to photograph their newest addition was incredibly meaningful. Watching their family continue to grow has been such a joy.

For their lifestyle newborn session, I traveled to their beautiful home in Otsego, creating a relaxed and stress-free experience that allowed everyone to simply enjoy being together.

    Relaxed, Comfortable, and Real

There is something special about photographing families in the place where life actually happens.

Kids can play with their favorite toys, babies can take breaks whenever they need them, and everyone feels more relaxed. Those genuine smiles and natural interactions are what make lifestyle newborn photography so timeless.

Instead of worrying about rushing through a studio session, families are able to slow down and enjoy these fleeting moments together.

    Including the Whole Family

One of my favorite moments from this session was capturing a large family portrait that included every sibling along with Grandma. These are the kinds of photographs that become treasured family keepsakes for generations.

Lifestyle newborn sessions aren’t just about documenting your newest baby they’re about celebrating the people who already love them.

Whether it’s older brothers and sisters, grandparents, or even your family pets, including everyone helps tell the complete story of this exciting new chapter.

Why In-Home Newborn Sessions Are Perfect for Growing Families

One of the biggest advantages of lifestyle newborn photography is that you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home.

When you’ve just welcomed a new baby, the last thing you want to do is pack diaper bags, load everyone into the car, and hope the baby stays asleep on the drive. Instead, I come to you.

For the Mettling family, this made everything so much easier. As a blended family with several siblings, coordinating schedules can be a challenge. By having everyone gather at home, we were able to include all of the kids without the stress of traveling between locations.

The best part? Grandma was able to join us too.

The Jeska Family:: Mendoda Heights, MN

There is something incredibly special about photographing families through every season of life, and Lizzy and Ryan’s story is one that has been such a joy to witness.

I first met these two when they trusted me to capture their engagement session, followed by their beautiful fall 2020 wedding. A few years later, I had the privilege of photographing their first newborn session after welcoming their oldest daughter into the world. And now, somehow, six years have already flown by!

This spring, I was honored to step back into their home to photograph their growing family as they welcomed their beautiful twin baby girls.

It’s hard to believe that the couple who once stood in front of my camera as newly engaged are now parents to three amazing daughters. Watching families grow is truly one of my favorite parts of being a photographer.

When Lizzy told me they were expecting twins, and that it came as quite the surprise, I couldn’t have been more excited for them. Twin newborn sessions are always so much fun because every little moment feels extra special. From tiny matching details to sweet sibling interactions, there are so many memories to capture.

One of my favorite parts of the session was seeing their oldest daughter again. She has grown so much since I photographed her newborn session and absolutely adored her new baby sisters. She brought so much personality and excitement to the session, making for some incredibly sweet moments that their family will treasure for years to come.

We photographed everything in the comfort of their home, allowing everyone to stay relaxed while documenting this new season together. Lizzy picked out the sweetest coordinating outfits for the girls that perfectly complemented the soft, natural feel of their home. Every tiny detail came together beautifully.

One of the greatest gifts of this career is building relationships that last far beyond a wedding day. Getting the opportunity to photograph couples as they become parents and then continue documenting their growing families is something I never take for granted.

Congratulations again, Lizzy and Ryan! It has been such a blessing to watch your family grow, and I couldn’t be happier for the five of you.

        Newborn Session :: Shakopee, MN

There is something incredibly special about getting to watch families grow over time, and the Striker family is one of those families that I feel truly grateful to know and photograph.

A few weeks ago, I traveled to Shakopee to meet their newest little one, baby Caleb, for his newborn session. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing this sweet family for their fall family session, and now I was stepping into their home to capture them as a family of four.

Baby Caleb made his arrival just a few weeks ago, and from the moment I walked in, it was clear how loved he already is. His big sister was absolutely smitten with him. Throughout the entire session, she couldn’t stop kissing him, gently loving on him, and staying close by his side. Watching that kind of connection unfold is one of my favorite parts of newborn photography. Those first bonds between siblings are so pure and full of joy.

Caleb decided he didn’t want to miss a thing and stayed wide awake for nearly the entire session. While he wasn’t interested in sleeping, it gave us the sweetest opportunity to capture his bright, beautiful blue eyes. I have a feeling those eyes are going to be one of his signature features as he grows.

One of the greatest joys of this work is returning to families again and again as their story unfolds. Being invited back into a home to document another milestone is something I never take for granted. Last fall, I had the privilege of photographing the Striker family for their family session, and getting to see them again in this new season felt like picking up right where we left off.

These are the kinds of relationships that make this job so meaningful watching little ones grow, seeing parents step into new seasons of life, and capturing the real, beautiful moments in between.

If you are welcoming a new baby this year, I would still love to get you on my calendar. My newborn sessions fill up quickly, especially around due dates, so I always recommend reaching out as early as possible to reserve your spot.

Congratulations to the Striker family on baby Caleb. It was such an honor to capture this sweet new chapter for you, and I cannot wait to see you again in the future as your family continues to grow.

          Newborn Session :: Hugo, MN

There is something incredibly special about watching a family grow over the years, and Baby Noah’s newborn session was one of those full-circle moments that reminded me exactly why I love what I do.

I first met Sarah and Brandon during their engagement session years ago, and since then, I’ve had the honor of photographing so many beautiful milestones in their lives from their wedding day to maternity sessions, newborn photos for their other children, and now sweet baby Noah’s arrival. Being invited back again and again to document these memories is one of the greatest gifts as a photographer.

Baby Noah was absolutely precious during his newborn session. He was calm, cozy, and already so loved by his family. One of my favorite parts of the session was watching his big sister interact with him. She was gentle, sweet, and completely smitten with her new baby brother. From softly holding his hand to snuggling close for photos, you could already see the beautiful bond forming between them.

Those sibling moments are always some of my favorites to capture during newborn photography sessions because they tell such an authentic story of family connection and love. The joy and pride on a big sibling’s face is something parents never want to forget.

As a Minnesota newborn photographer, sessions like this remind me how meaningful these images become over time. Babies grow so quickly, and those sleepy newborn stretches, tiny fingers, and family snuggles change in the blink of an eye. Photographing families through every stage; engagement, wedding, maternity, newborns, and beyond is truly the heart behind my business.

Sarah and Brandon’s journey into parenthood has been beautiful to witness, and capturing Baby Noah’s newborn session feels like another chapter added to their incredible story. I’m endlessly thankful for families who trust me to preserve these memories year after year.

If your family is growing and you’re looking for a photographer to capture your story in an authentic and meaningful way, I would love to connect with you. Whether you’re expecting your first baby or welcoming another little one into your family, these moments deserve to be remembered.

Please contact me to book your maternity, newborn, or family photography session, I would be honored to help tell your story.
