Boom Island Park, Minneapolis:: Wedding

Typically as a 14 year old you are not looking for your future partner or do you think that the person you date in middle school you will marry. But for Jessica and Nick, their love story was made just streets apart.

Growing up in the Minneapolis suburbs, the two went to the same middle school, but didn’t start dating until high school. They became the best of friends and grew up together. When they graduated, the two both attended the same college and moved back to the Cities, purchased a home and then their rescue dog, Bear together.

Nick knew he was ready to ask Jessica to marry him, and put a plan into place when they traveled to Hawaii with Jessica’s family. The family decided to visit Kauai together and as they were walking along the volcanic rocks along the ocean, Nick got down on one knee and asked Jess to be his wife. The two were able to spend the rest of their trip celebrating with family and enjoying Hawaii’s beautiful views.

Their June wedding day was a beautiful one. Jessica and Nick got ready at the Courtyard by Mariott in downtown Minneapolis. With its stunning views of the city skyline, Jess and her bridesmaids started the day toasting with mimosas and getting hair and make up done by Pure Beauty and Make-up.

Because both Jessica and Nick love nature as well as Minneapolis, they decided to do their first look and many of the bridal party photos at Boom Island Park. Upon seeing Jess in her stunning gown from Our Shop Bridal, Nick held back tears as the couple saw each other for the first time. Jessica’s stunning bridal bouquet from Artemisia Studios was perfect when paired with the cathedral veil and lace back dress. The bridal party joined us, bridesmaids in lilac dresses from David’s Bridal and groomsmen in black tuxes from Savvi, and we had a fun time walking the park and the warmth of the summer day.

Their ceremony at St. Maron’s was beautiful and DJ Yaoob got and kept the party going while Dina and Matt of We Do Wedding Videography captured the entire day beautifully. Jessica and Nick, congratulations and cheers to many, many happy years together.

    Hope Glenn Farm, Cottage Grove:: Wedding

    Both transplants to Alabama from the Midwest, Brittany and Foster met while working at the same plant in a new employee group. They both were looking to build friendships and found an intramural kickball league. Over time, Brittany and Foster began talking and a friendship was formed. Eventually Foster asked Britney out on a date and she said yes. From there the two became inseparable and eventually decided to move back up to Minnesota together and start a life together.

    Last winter before the pandemic hit Britney and Foster decided to go to Hawaii. Foster knew it was here he wanted to propose to Brittany and wanted to make it as special and romantic and memorable as it could be. The night finally came and the two walked down the beach with a beautiful Maui sunset. Foster started singing and slow dancing with Brittany. At the end of the song, he got down on one knee and before he could even ask the question, Brittany got so excited and lurched to give him a hug and in the process both of them fell into the sand laughing.Thankfully Foster was able to close the ring box quickly and Brittany exclaimed a resounding yes!

    Their hot June wedding at Hope Glen Farm was filled with family and friends from all over. Being back together was wonderful and a great way to celebrate the start of summer! Through the heat of the weekend, Brittany and Foster were calm, cool and collected and so easy to work with.

    Brittany wore a beautiful Wtoo ivory gown from the wedding shop while Foster and his groomsmen tried to stay cool in their navy Renoir suits from Milbern Clothing, were a perfect look for their farm wedding. Brittany‘s bridesmaids all had different beautiful pastel and floral dresses. When paired with the flowers from Weddings Your Way, bouquets full of pinks, whites and greens, it made for a magical presentation. Their simple stationary from Magnet Street invited guests from all over to come and enjoy the summer day. Both Foster and Britney‘s rings from James Allen sparkled and shined as they exchanged them on the alter. Eryka of Hope Glenn coordinated the day to be flawless. This Little Piggy Catering provided some of the best tacos which were perfect for the hot summer day and Hyvee Catering created a beautiful cake which was topped with a cake topper. Brittany and Fosters dogs joined us right after the ceremony for some sweet and lovable photos. DJ Todd of Complete + Weddings and Events had the dance floor full for the evening. It was a great day had by all. Brittany and Foster, congratulations I wish you both the best of luck as you start your married life together.

      Orchard Glen, Fargo ND:: Wedding

      When Annika started at NDSU, she knew it would be hard to find a church, so as a freshman she decided to go with her brother, Grant. While they were there, Grant introduced her to a a football teammate, Austin. Annika and Austin hit it off immediately and connected as they were both in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Annika was drawn to Austin and over the course of the year, their friendship grew.

      Eventually both Annika and Austin started dating and one night in front of the entire FCA crew, Austin was giving a talk about positive influences in his life. He pointed Annika out and in the process proceeded to ask her to marry him in front of the entire FCA family.

      Their wedding was planned for May 22 of 2020, but Covid had other plans for them. The two decided to keep their original wedding date and were married in Annika’s parent’s front yard with close friends and family. Because many of their best friends missed their wedding, they decided to renew their vows on their one year anniversary in the state they met and now live in; North Dakota.

      Their North Dakota reception reflected their love of family and friends. Annika and Austin chose to renew their vows and celebrate at a private residence in North Dakota, but many of their photos were done at Orchard Glen, a breathtakingly beautiful park near the Fargo area. The forecast called for rain all week, but not a drop of rain fell as we photographed Annika and Austin. Annika’s beautiful wedding dress purchased from LeeAnne’s Bridal paired perfectly with the greens and white blooms that Prairie Petals created for the day. Annika’s solitaire ring from Riddles was beautiful. One of Annika’s bridesmaids created the most stunning updo’s for Annika. The beautiful bridesmaids wore periwinkle dresses from David’s Bridal that popped when put up against Austin groomsmen’s bowties and suspenders from Men’s Warehouse. Nathan of Harmon Entertainment kept guests dancing the night away! Annika and Austin, thank you for including me in your both your days.  It was beautiful and I wish you both so much joy as you continue your next adventure of life together!

        Lyndale Park, Minneapolis :: Bridal Session

        We were all hopeful that when Allie and Brett planned their November wedding that things would go easily and according to plan. But 2020 and Covid changed all of that.

        Allie and Brett had wanted to have their intimate wedding at a venue in the south metro and celebrate with close family and friends. As summer came and went, they figured that they dodged the controversy, and went ahead in planning their 2020 wedding. When the threat of the November shutdown happened, they worked with their rehearsal venue to make things work so that they could have their wedding there a day before. And when the order came to close restaurants in November (their back up plan), the two decided to elope with their immediate family and just get married.

        Because Allie and Brett never got wedding photos ( and I was totally bummed I could not hang out with them on their wedding day) we decided to put a spring date on the calendar where they could get back into their wedding attire and they could get the professional photos that they wanted.

        It was a totally different day than their wedding, but both Allie and Brett were just as beautiful. We strolled Lyndal Park like we owned it and marveled in all the color that had sprung forth bringing new life and new beginning.

        We don’t know what 2021 will hold, but we know the beauty that can come from a year of being still and reflecting. These moments of recovering what were lost in the last year bring me hope and a renewed love for my profession and the people I get to spend my time with.

        Allie and Brett, thank you for being incredible people. It was a joy and honor to serve you! Happy six month anniversary!

          Camrose Hill Flower Farm, Stillwater :: Wedding

          Three years ago when Eva interviewed Max for a job at Children’s Hospital, she was not only intrigued by the way he was extremely suited for the job, but for who he was as a person. Easy going and casual, Max was easy to be around and Eva found herself enjoying his company more and more when they worked together.

          The two started dating and two years later at the end of February, Max planned a hike for the tow of them at Lebanon Hills during the candlelight festival that they hold every year in the snow. Unfortunately the snow melted early that year and the paths turned to ice. As he and Eva walked (and slipped) along the path, Eva continued to ask him what was happening. Trying to be romantic and find the perfect spot, cold trying and keep Eva from getting upset, the two ended up heading back to their apartment. Upon their arrival, Max ended up getting down on one knee and completely surprising Eva by asking her to be his wife!

          Both Eva and Max had hoped for a September wedding, but like so many couples in 2020, ended postponing it to this May, and I am so glad they did. Their small and intimate ceremony at Camrose HIll Flower Farm was bursting with color and life. We took advantage of all the blooms in the garden by strolling the pathways. Eva’s beautiful ivory and blush tulle dress fit in perfectly for the feel of the farm. Max’s navy suit from Foursquare looked stunning when paired with the wildflower bouquet that Camrose created. Eva’s beautiful dark hair was pulled into a stunning up-do from Sarah Jane Salon. Their stationary, created by Eva’s step-father, Wally Preissing, was perfect when paired with rings from Jared and Enso were beautiful. Anna from Adagio brought some incredible music while Rack Shack BBQ catered in an incredible meal and Muddypaws brought their delectable bite sized cheesecakes.
