My days are so full of such joy these lately! Seeing clients over and over again brings me so much life! From the time Kelly was a bridesmaid in a wedding I shot, to photographing very own wedding and then the birth and growth of her two little guys, I have grown with my clients. Maintaining friendships and relationships with my clients is what keeps my joy for photography alive! Here are a few from our in studio session together!
Going from one child to two can be a huge life transformation, but what about going from one to three?! The sweet Fernandez family of Plymouth did just that. My heart was absolutely melting as these two little ones were complete angels. Hardly making a peep, sleeping throughout the entire session and still tiny and scrunched made the session even more enjoyable. Their parents and big brother welcomed them with joy, and we even did a little bed-bouncing to keep the session fun! All the sweet noises, movements, and smells made me appreciate even more the newness of life and how precious it is. Congratulations Michelle and Hector, I can not wait to see you as parents of three!

One of the things I love is seeing families grow over the years. This particular couple is dear to my heart as I have known Shannon for years. Her sister introduced us, and she and Keith even flew my husband and I out to New York to photograph their wedding. Seeing their family grown and change over the years has been so fun and as they said their goodbyes this summer and headed on to their next adventure in Alaska, I know our paths will cross again. Hey maybe they will even fly me out to Anchorage for their next family session… wink wink!!
New babies. Such a gift. I got a call from this sweet family to photograph their newest addition as well as do some family photos a few weeks back. I adored the way big brother loved on his little siblings and the way mom and dad went with the flow of the afternoon. I can not wait to photograph this sweet family again and see how everyone has grown!
Back when my kids were small, I remember scheduling an in studio session for my toddler and 3 moth old. Getting the kids fed, hair looking cute, outfits on and out the door on time, was such an undertaking. The driving to the studio (which of course opened during my 3 month old’s first nap) and then having to wait in the mall for the studio to open was almost more than I could bear. Once in the studio, I remember working with a photographer who had 30 minutes to get both my girls to smile, and stay in one place together. (And as most of you who have kids know, this is not an easy task for a toddler in the middle of winter and a three month old who needs a nap!)
To be fair, the studio did offer me another session. The thought of reliving a day like that again had me declining and I vowed then and there to do outdoor and in home sessions not only for myself, but for any other client who wanted one.
In the past years the photography industry has welcomed these in-home sessions and for those wanting less posed, and more natural family shots, these types of sessions are not only beautiful, but they capture real life. Most of the time these sessions can take place in a client’s home where they are most comfortable and their other children (if they have any) are most comfortable. Studios can still be wonderful places for photos if the thought of being in your home stresses you out (and I still do a few of these sessions). But for the most part, in home sessions can be less stressful and beautiful.
A question I often get asked from new moms as they are preparing for these newborn session is “How can prep for my shoot, and my house will not be clean. Is that ok?”
To that I would reply, “Absolutely! I have three kids and lets be honest, cleaning our home is a the bottom of this list when bringing home a baby!”

Baby Mary has arrived and is already so deeply loved by Nicole and Aaron.
I’ve had the true honor of photographing this family since their oldest was born over 16 years ago, and watching their story grow through each new season has been something really special. From newborn snuggles to busy, full family life being invited back again and again is something I never take for granted.
This family is deeply rooted in the world of forage, county fairs, and raising and showing lambs and sheep, so it only felt fitting to include a little lamb hat for baby Mary’s first photos. A small nod to a big part of their life and traditions.

Spring soirée perfection.
Rob and Sarah’s wedding day was a beautiful blend of faith, family, and thoughtful design. Inspired by Monet’s garden paintings, their celebration was filled with soft spring colors, meaningful heirlooms, and intentional details at every turn.
After a joyful ceremony at Eagle Brook Church, surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated the night away at Silverwood Park with beautiful florals, heartfelt speeches, lakeside portraits, and dancing.
One of my favorite details? Sarah changed into her mother’s wedding dress for the reception, while flowers made from that same gown were sewn into her veil.
